The Case of Bernard Noble

Bernard Noble was just like any other average middle aged man, living his life in Louisiana. Bernard has 7 children, and some with disabilities. He had just gotten his trucking license and was in route to start his own Cuban Food Company. He had a very stable home environment, and loved his kids. Unfortunately, in 2010, Bernard was caught with 2.8 grams of marijuana on him. The position he was in was very unfortunate, considering the police really didn't have a true probable cause to stop him. He was on his bike, when he turned a corner and all the sudden blue lights started flashing for a reason that he wasn't aware. Reports say that this was also a racial injustice on the police's part for pulling up on him the way they did. Bernard's first reaction from seeing the blue lights was to run because he wasn't sure what else to do. They were approaching him at a fast speed and Bernard wasn't sure exactly what to do. Bernard was then searched and put in handcuffs. He was sentenced to 13 years in prison for carrying 2.8 grams of marijuana on his person. This is when a lot of cases for injustice have been investigated, since this event. Bernard was unable to watch his children grow up, unable to pursue any type of dream he had, all because of this non-violent "crime". With some of his kids having disabilities, he was unable to properly support his children who are helpless and disabled. He was the provider for his family. Bernard had never committed physical crime or anything along the lines of that. He wasn't doing anything wrong, just at the wrong place, at the wrong time. People forget the brutality of possession. Its ruined many lives, such as Bernard's, and have forced people to give up their dreams and responsibilities for possessing this harmless plant.
