My Personal Testimony on This Topic

Why I'm Passionate about this Topic: Growing up, my mother always loved to hike. She would always love to encourage me to get outdoors and stay active. I'll never forget hiking on one of the Appalachian Trails a few years back. Little did I know that a few years later that would actually be our last hike. My mother who is 54 years old was diagnosed in 2009 with an auto-immune disease named Relapsing-PolyChondritis. This is a very crippling and chronic disease that remains incurable. Dealing with this illness includes extreme pain in joints, cartilage, and extreme inflammation in the throat. Its been a very drastic change in lifestyle for me and her. She went from being very physically active to barely being able to do anything physical at all. Though there are medicines to reduce the suffering, these strong medications have terrible side effects that almost make taking the medicine unbearable.
